Finally have conclusive evidence that my car shoots epic flames. May or may not post video in the morning, we'll see how I feel. Anyways, there will be an update on the engine I picked up from XJDano in the pipeline in the next day or two. Anyone know of a cheap way to get a proper straight edge? Like one good enough for measurement purposes? Never had to check irons for warping before...

That's why electric cars will suck. Yeah, they got massive loads of instant torque and efficiency, but to me the amazing thing of an internal combustion engine is like it's a living thing. The crackling of an exhaust, the flames, the noise, it's all amazing.

A cheap straight edge is about 60 bucks from a tool website

I was considering laying the parts on the deck of a block we had done recently and using that. Ghetto but it should work, right?

Nope, no way to measure the middle. For just a straightness check a machine shop may not even charge.

You can measure the middle. Just gotta have something straight to put on it and then measure with feeler gauges.

Are you trying to jeopardize an engine rebuild by being extra cheap? No offense
